What to Expect

What should I do on my first Sunday?

After parking, you may enter our building via the two sets of red doors under the A-frame entrance to our Sanctuary (look for the large wooden cross on our building).  You will find greeters at the door ready to welcome you.  Grab a bulletin (adult and child versions available), a worship bag if you’re visiting with children, and take a seat in our comfortable pews, wherever feels right to you.

After you’re seated, do whatever you do to center down into the present moment and the presence of God and enjoy an opportunity to hear God’s eternal story and our place in it. We hope that our worship will open you to be renewed, affirmed that you are a beloved child of God, and inspired for living a life that is abundant and meaningful.

What Should I Wear?

Whatever feels comfortable and makes you feel you.

How Long is Worship?

About 60 minutes.

What about Children?

Children are welcome and embraced in worship. Worshipping together as a family is one of the most impactful faith-forming practices. Our sanctuary features a “prayground” — a child and family friendly area with space for wiggles and movement, a kid-sized table with age-appropriate worship pages, and soft sensory toys. Our worship features a weekly “Children’s Message” which connects the scripture/theme to the experiences of our children. After the message, children leave to attend Sunday School taught by our background-checked volunteers.

There is also a temperature-controlled nursery available for our littlest ones with toys, books, and comfortable chairs. The audio from worship can be heard in the space.

When Do You Celebrate Communion and am I welcome?

We celebrate the sacrament of Holy Communion on the first Sunday of each month. At Woodridge, we extend Jesus’ welcome to the Table to everyone. Toddlers, elders, doubters, first-timers, long-time members. There is a place for you at the Table.

Will I be asked to stand up as a visitor?

No. Find a place that feels comfortable and be present. We’ll be glad you’re here, but we won’t put you on the spot.

What if I’m LGBTQIA+?

Woodridge is proudly Open & Affirming. Click here to learn more about what that means.

Where Do I Park?

We have ample parking in our lot on the east side of our building (turn at the Cadence Academy sign off Woodridge Road) and our members often park in the lot behind Seven Stars Bakery and cross the street on Sunday mornings to walk right into our Sanctuary.

Is your building Accessible?

Yes. There is wheelchair accessibility to the Sanctuary and Parish House as well as accessible bathrooms.
